Here are a dozen delicious snowman desserts . . .well, they’re not desserts for your favorite snowman . . . they’re desserts in the shape of snowmen. I live in the snow belt, so I’ve learned that you have to embrace snow in order to survive the winter with your wits intact. (Well, almost intact. I’ve been known to have a meltdown from time to time, too;-)
I think you’ll love these ideas, especially if you’re having kids over for sled riding and hot chocolate. Adults will like them, too, if they have a sweet tooth, that is.
Making hot chocolate? Here’s an adorable way to decorate snowman marshmallows from The Sweet Adventure of Sugarbelle. She uses 20-second icing to make the faces, but did you know there is such a thing as edible food markers? That would be even quicker.
Of course, you’ll have to stir the cocoa, so what about using these Hot Chocolate Spoons from Alpha Mom? Marie promises they’re easy to make so I bet the kids could make their own ahead of time.
We’re not done with marshmallows yet. How cute this Handstand Snowman from Miss CandiQuick? These would go together pretty fast and the kids could have a blast drawing the faces with those edible food markers.
Speaking of kids, do you have to take treats to anybody’s classroom this winter? How about these Donut Snowmen on a Stick from Dukes & Duchesses? Randi always has the best ideas.
Feeling crafty? And hungry? Check out this recipe for Rice Krispy Snowman #1 from Kids Activities. There are several recipes on this page, but this is definitely my favorite.
Want to go above and beyond with the Rice Krispy snowman? Check out the step-by-step instructions at Taste by Four Seasons and you’ll look like a professional when your Edible Snowman takes center stage on your party table.
Got any cookie monsters living with you? They’ll love these Melted Snowman Cookies from Somewhat Simple. And they’re so easy to make, you won’t believe it.
Here’s another melting snowman cookie recipe, but with chocolate. This Chocolatey Melting Snowmen recipe from BHG calls for peanut butter cups for hats. Aren’t they adorable?
Don’t feel like firing up the oven? These Snowman Cookies from My Pretty Purse require no baking. Just grab a package of Nutter Butter cookies and follow Angie’s easy instructions.
Did you have any of the Oreo Truffles that were going around at Christmas time? Here’s a variation of that delicious recipe from The Girl Who Ate Everything. These Melted Snowmen Oreo Balls are surprisingly easy to make and the snowmen are absolutely darling.
This Snowman Pudding recipe from Glued To My Crafts is deceiving. All the decorations are done on the plastic cups! You wouldn’t even have to cook your own pudding if you didn’t want to, although Stacey provides a good vanilla snowman pudding recipe on her awesome blog.
And finally, my all-time favorite dessert – ice cream with any kind of chocolate. These Snowman Shooters from Babble are the perfect treat for kids or adults.
Next week I’ll post a blog on other snowman-shaped foods that aren’t desserts. But for now, head to the kitchen and create at least one of the dozen delicious snowman recipes above. Your family will love you for it and you’ll be able to ward off the winter blues – at least until the next snowmageddon arrives;-)
